About Me

Dr. Jill Rough has 20 years broad experience in national security and defense related research, including experience analyzing transnational threats, homeland security policies and programs, Active-Reserve integration, Reserve Component utilization, and women in the military. One of her professional passions is to help bridge the gap between academic researchers and policy-oriented leaders; she seeks to bring the rigors of academic research into the policy arena while introducing the realities of the policy world to students in the classroom.

She has taught at several universities in the Washington DC metro area and has been invited to speak to a wide variety of academic, military, business, and civic organizations. She conducts freelance security and defense research, regularly presents on military manpower issues, and actively volunteers with organizations designed to enhance youth understanding of national and international security concerns.
