About Me

As an urban economist and social scientist, my writings and  research  evaluate public finances and local economic development in the United States, Latin America and around the world.  In general, I am looking to find new financial mechanisms for funding economic development projects within developing world. In that context, I evaluate government structures, municipal debt, fiscal policy, taxes and other public finances. In particular, I study how governments fund their public programs and look for innovate new financial mechanisms.

My recent work has focused on the municipal bond market in Mexico, which includes a mix market based (commercial bank loans and the bond market) and government subsided system authorized by trusts funds, and a bond bank.

Finally, in that context, I’ve applied these public financial instruments into qualitative and quantitative research related to adaptation policies in cities, urban regional development and creating greater social equity for the distribution of public services.
