About Me

My main research interests include elections and political representation, particularly in Latin America. My dissertation focuses on “invalid” voting (blank or spoiled votes) in Latin America. I ask why individual voters choose to cast blank or spoiled ballots, and how (and whether) political elites respond to this phenomenon. In other projects I look at how features of the political context–especially political norms, stability and institutions–condition political participation.
