About Me

Rebecca Fradkin is a doctoral candidate at the University of Oxford in the Department of Politics and International Relations.

Rebecca’s research examines the effectiveness of authoritarian regimes to co-opt and regulate religion. Her current project examines efforts to co-opt and regulate Islam in Kazakhstan and Russia. She conducted fieldwork in Kazakhstan and Russia over the course of three years.

Rebecca received her master’s in Comparative Government from Oxford and also holds three bachelor degrees in: Political Science; Comparative Religion; and Russian, Eurasian and Eastern European Studies.
