About Me

My research focuses on belonging, citizenship, inclusion, and trust in modern democratic societies, bringing together debates of political theory and comparative politics.

More specifically, I am interested in the relationship between formal citizenship and substantive belonging, and the ways in which citizens mobilize the legal framework of the state when they seek to delineate and police the boundaries of their affective communities. In my research, I explore the ramifications for political equality posed by incongruities between formal and affective belonging within contemporary democracies.
