About Me

Anna Gunderson is a Ph.D. student at Emory University interested in American politics broadly and crime politics more specifically. She works at the state politics level, analyzing how states both budget and make policy regarding punishment. Her dissertation will focus on the rise of private prisons in American states and analyze how the institutions of state government interact with the aims of private prison companies to produce variation in the use of carceral privatization.
