About Me

Jennifer E. Walsh (Ph.D., Claremont Graduate University), is dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and a professor of political science at Azusa Pacific University. She is an expert in criminal justice policy, American government, state and local politics, and constitutional law. She is the author of Three Strikes Laws (Greenwood Press, 2007) and has published peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on topics related to criminal justice policy, the U.S. Supreme Court and affirmative action policies, the significance of John Locke on the American Founding, and religious freedom in the U.S. and China. Dr. Walsh serves as a Faculty Fellow at the Rose Institute at Claremont McKenna College and is a faculty affiliate member and regular invited speaker of the Values & Capitalism division of the American Enterprise Institute (AEI).

In addition, Dr. Walsh has been called to testify as a policy expert by the California State Legislature and the New Zealand Parliament and is frequently consulted by print and broadcast media on a range of issues related to local, state, and national politics. Recently, she was featured as an expert in a Sunday news feature on, and has published op-ed articles and given print and radio interviews on topics related to Christian faith and religious freedom.

As dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Azusa Pacific University, Dr. Walsh oversees the academic affairs of eight departments housing more than 100 full-time faculty, 150 adjunct faculty, and more than 2,000 undergraduate students. She is committed to cultivating academic programs of excellence, fostering faculty and student research, and preparing students for advanced study, civic engagement, vocational success, and a life well-lived.
