About Me:

I specialise in international political economy and macroeconomics from a pluralist perspective, with regional expertise in Latin America. I have been dealing with the literature discussing international trade, international financial flows, globalisation and international monetary order in developing countries, approached from the perspective of global changes in politics, governance and economics over the last thirty years. I am firmly committed with a critical and constructive engagement with mainstream economics while offering alternatives from within political economy, addressing the nature of contemporary capitalism and corresponding policy and applied issues. My doctoral thesis analyses the dynamics of Brazilian public debt between 1994 and 2014. It considers the vicious circle between financial liberalisation, high interest rates and the growth of domestic public debt within the context of neoliberalism and financial globalisation. I am also interested in economics and politics of the UK economy since the World War II, and the issue of lack of women in the economics profession.
