About Me:

I am an Assistant Professor in Political Science at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Broadly speaking, I am interested in questions about the onset and dynamics of intrastate conflict, the strategic interaction between state and opposition groups, and the causes and implications of gender dynamics for conflict. My dissertation explored the question “Why do some civil conflicts simmer at low-intensity, while others escalate to war?” by developing and testing theoretical explanations for the different mechanisms driving conflict onset and escalation.
